First Day Humor
I hope you have a great first day of school!
Here's a little something to put a smile on your face to prepare for the big day!

Thank you for committing yourself to your students.
You make a difference to these students and can help them create patterns for success that can influence their entire life.
Thank you for what you do everyday.
I appreciate you and so do the students and their families.

Creating Patterns of Success

On August 26 from 9-12 we will have our building staff meeting to set the stage for our 2015-16 theme:
Creating
At Hudson Prairie we have seen a lot of successes. Our goal this year will be to CELEBRATE the successes and try to replicate them to create patterns of success for student learning.
Please comment about successes you are proud of at HP on this blog post.

Our enduring understanding is:
Student learning is maximized by purposeful planning, high impact teaching, and reflection on student learning. These are patterns of success.

Why do we want to create patterns of success?
For our kids.

Help every student learn at high levels and demonstrate growth.

Immerse
Before the staff meeting, I want you to reflect on patterns of success.
Name a pattern of success in your personal life.
Name a pattern of success in your professional life.
Reflect on how these patterns can be replicated.

In our classroom, we will create patterns of success by understanding the teaching standards and continually refining our practice to meet student needs.

As Professional Learning Communities we will create patterns of success by discussing Dufour's 4 questions:

  1. What is it we expect our students to learn?
  2. How will we know when they have learned it?
  3. How will we respond when some students do not learn?
  4. How will we respond when some students already know it?

We will learn from our colleagues through peer observations, videos, and PLC discussions.
